Crimson Conversations

Parent & Family Programs has developed comprehensive checklists for parents and family members of undergraduate students at The University of Alabama. These lists are designed to serve as conversation starters and a list of key tasks to complete with your student during their breaks from UA. Whether your student is in their first-year, is a continuing student, or is in their final year, these check ins are intended to be a flexible reference point and guide for meaningful conversations.

Winter Break

While winter break is a time for family get-togethers and sometimes some much-needed vacations, it’s also a great opportunity to connect with your student. This is an opportunity to not only celebrate their achievements but talk about what’s up next. Winter break is an ideal time for you to check in on their progress and help them plan for the spring semester.

Spring Break

While spring break may only be a week, it offers students a well-deserved break from the spring semester. Whether your student is coming home, staying in Tuscaloosa, or going on a trip, it is a great opportunity to connect with your UA student. This is a time to look at their academic progress, solidify plans for the remainder of the term and the summer, and begin looking ahead to the Fall semester.
