Parent & Family Programs serves parents and family members with the goal of supporting successful student transition, retention, and persistence to graduation. We recognize the crucial role that each of you play in your student’s college education. It is our goal to provide the resources and involvement opportunities that can used to help create your own UA experience.

Parent & Family Orientation
Parent & Family Orientation at the University of Alabama is here to help families feel connected and confident as their students start college. The program is supported by 50 student leaders (called Avantis) and 4 student coordinators, all ready to answer questions and offer support. In 2024, over 10,000 family members attended 27 sessions, making it a key resource for families to learn about everything from campus life to academic support. Whether you are looking for tips on how to help your student succeed or simply want to learn more about life at UA, Parent & Family Orientation is the perfect way to get started.

Avanti
The Avanti team is a dynamic and small team of students recruited, selected, and hired to work with Parent & Family Programs and its events.
The Avanti student team receives opportunities to build their leadership skills, work with other student leaders and professionals from across campus, learn more about themselves personally and develop professionally, all while getting some great perks that come with this unique job.
Family Weekend
Family Weekend at the University of Alabama is a chance for parents and family members to experience campus life alongside their students. In 2024, over 9,000 family members registered for the event, making it one of the most anticipated weekends of the year. With 34 exciting events scheduled, there’s something for everyone. From tailgates to campus tours, Family Weekend offers a chance to connect, celebrate and make lasting memories with your student at UA.
