The Education Abroad team is hosting an informative and engaging session designed to guide you through the study abroad process and what it could look like for your student. You’ll hear from our team, faculty members, and a parent who’s been exactly where you are, navigating the exciting (and sometimes nerve-wracking) experience of sending a student overseas. Tour of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium

Alabama Athletics invites the entire family to make Alabama memories with a behind-the-scenes tour of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium during Family Weekend. Explore team areas, take unforgettable photos in the locker room, and pose beneath the Saban Field team gate entrance. Tours will take place ever half hour from 9 to 11:30 am. Tickets are $33 and can be purchased through the athletic ticket site. For any questions regarding your tour, please email TicketSalesTeam@ia.ua.edu. *Be sure to take the shuttle to the stadium. Parking at the stadium is not allowed.*

Families are invited to explore the center, learn more about the University, and discover helpful resources while experiencing the beauty and spirit of campus. Stop by anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to tour the space and make it part of your Family Weekend experience.

Visit the Tuscaloosa Civil Rights History & Reconciliation Foundation website to see a map of the self-guided civil rights history tour.

Gorgas House Museum

9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. | Gorgas House, 810 Capstone Dr., Tuscaloosa, AL 35487
Visit the Gorgas House Museum  to see UA’s first campus building, which connects the 1831 campus to today through student-designed exhibits. Guests are invited to hold a sword from the War of 1812, play the grand square piano from 1875, or hear a song played on the phonograph! Free admission during Family Weekend, but donations are appreciated to help us preserve this historic home.

College of Communication and Information Sciences Tours

9 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Reese Phifer Hall & Digital Media Center
The College of Communication and Information Sciences is excited to welcome families to tour Reese Phifer Hall and the Digital Media Center! Tours will begin at the top of each hour. Starting point will be the Rotunda of Reese Phifer Hall (enter at the top of the front steps). 

Paul W. Bryant Museum

Visit the Paul W. Bryant Museum to see the exhibit, artifacts, and memorabilia that trace the long history of the University of Alabama football program. Visit the Paul W. 33rd Annual Beat Auburn Beat Hunger (BABH) Food Drive Kick-Off

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. | The University of Alabama Student Center Lawn
The 33^rd Annual Beat Auburn Beat Hunger (BABH) food drive benefiting the West Alabama Food Bank starts October 1st. The Annual food drive takes place each year during the seven weeks leading up to the Iron Bowl. UA students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members participate in the fight against hunger in West Alabama. This friendly competition between the University of Alabama and Auburn University, partnering with the East Alabama food bank challenges each community to see who can collect more non-perishable foods and monetary donations. Join us on the Student Center lawn! 

Family Weekend Check-In

10 a.m. – 7 p.m. | UA Student Center, Second Floor by the Elephant
Registered Family Weekend participants should check in to pick up their Family Weekend packets, including a Family Weekend guide, schedule of events, clear stadium bag and event wristbands/tickets. Late check-in will begin at 6 p.m. behind the Kickoff Concert stage until 7 p.m. 

Alabama Museum of Natural History

9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. | Smith Hall, 427 Sixth Ave., Tuscaloosa, AL 35487
Visit to learn about the state’s natural history and ancient past. Cost: $5 for adults and $3 for children in grades K-12. Free admission for: UA faculty, staff, and students. Visit the Alabama Museum of Natural History website for pricing.

College of Human Environmental Sciences Open House

2 p.m. – 4 p.m. | Doster Hall Alumni Room and Lobby (Enter Doster Hall using the front steps, the Alumni room will be on your right.) Scientific Glassblowing Facility Open House

Experience the fascinating art and science of glassblowing during the Scientific Glassblowing Facility Open House. Participants will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet and engage in conversation with the artist, and enjoy a live glassblowing demonstration. Come see firsthand how creativity, precision, and science come together through this unique craft. 

Tide to Town: Off Campus Living Expo

Families of first-year students are invited to attend Tide to Town: Off Campus Living Expo. Visit with vendors from the Tuscaloosa community that will help when freshmen move off campus for sophomore year. This event is free to any UA families. You do not have to have a family weekend ticket.  

NPHC Meet & Greet

Join the UA National Pan-Hellenic Council (UA NPHC) for an opportunity to connect with UA students & families who are members of the Divine Nine community during Parent & Family Weekend. Guests will engage with active NPHC members and alumni through fellowship, conversation, and interactive activities while strengthening connections centered around leadership, service, D9 culture, and belonging. 

Family Weekend Kickoff Concert

6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. | The University of Alabama Student Center Lawn
Families will experience an evening on the Student Center lawn. This event will include musical entertainment and food truck options for purchase to offer a taste of life in Tuscaloosa. Food truck meals are on your own and are not covered in the family weekend ticket price. Entertainment, games and blankets are included in Family Weekend registration fees. This event is co-sponsored by Visit Tuscaloosa. 

Observatory Tour and Planet Viewing

7 p.m. – 9 p.m. | Roof of Gallalee Hall
This event will involve a quick tour of the observatory on top of the roof of Gallalee Hall, followed by a viewing session of Solar System planets and several other astronomical objects using the 16-inch telescope located in the dome.  

Bingo with University Programs

Family Weekend Tailgate Menu: We’re excited to share the delicious menu for this year’s Family Weekend Tailgate! Family Weekend Pickleball Event

Bring the family and enjoy some friendly competition during our Family Pickleball Open Play! This free event is open to families of all skill levels and offers a fun opportunity to get active and spend time together. Please bring a valid form of identification. Participants can bring their own pickleball equipment or purchase paddles and balls at the Tennis Pro Shop inside URec. Looking to purchase and Bama Family branded gear place an order before September 1st here. Balls are $3 each and paddles range from $45–$90 at the Tennis Pro Shop. Debit and credit cards accepted only!

Enjoy brunch and live music with your UA family at Lakeside Dining Hall, one of our amazing dining locations. Join Bama Dining for a silent auction with over 40+ University of Alabama items your student would love. Credit cards only accepted. All proceeds of the silent auction go to the Student Care and Well-being Student Life Campus Pantry. Bidding must take place in person before 12:30 p.m. Brunch is included in Family Weekend ticket. Door price is $17.20. Opportunity to take a picture with Big Al from 9-10 a.m.

Alumni Legacy Pinning Ceremony

The National Alumni Association Alumni Legacy Pinning Ceremony is a celebration of loyalty to the Capstone, giving UA alumni family members an opportunity to honor the legacy their student is carrying forward. During the ceremony, alumni family members and their students will receive commemorative pins marking this meaningful connection between generations of the Bama family. If you have a child or grandchild attending UA, you and your student are invited to participate in this special occasion. The ceremony is exclusive to those who have registered for Family Weekend.
